Sustainability

WE ARE HERE WITH A PURPOSE
Creating an epic Halong Bay & Lan Ha Bay change for all

To us, sustainability is a verb. It is conservation in action. It can manifest itself in a myriad of ways, from responsible tourism and caring for pier cruise lines travel to, to passenger education about the environment onboard and off, to donating to good causes and programs.
Our commitment translates to concrete everyday actions, particularly in terms of the controlled and more responsible approach we adopt towards what we use and consume onboard our cruises

Green Halong – Garbage Collected Activity

Indochina Sails and Indochine Cruise has always supported the local communities and indigenous peoples who still live in and off of the waters of Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. Children in local fishing villages are supported through donations, and educational support in the form of school equipment and uniforms. Indochina Sails and Indochine Cruise also celebrate special events including International Children’s Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, and the new school year. On special charter itineraries, local children are invited onto the ships to meet our guests and enjoy parties with gifts and food.

Indochina Sails yearly hold an event called “Let’s join us for Green Halong". This is a practical action of a fleet – a company should do in order to protect sustainable tourism - protect the environment and help community. That is an opportunity to be personally involved and experienced this exciting and grateful event that gave us a very strong impression, through the practical activities of the program included collecting rubbish on the bay, repainting the classes of a primary school in Cua Van Floating Village and granting children with school stationeries. Such practical and pressing activities like this will raise the awareness of tourist staffs and local people about sustainable tourism. Through this event, Indochina Sails has created favorable conditions for their employees as well as invited guests who really care about Halong bay and Lan Ha Bay to contribute their efforts to clean and green this natural heritage. It was such a meaningful program, not only to do practical activities to save the bay but also to spread out a pressing message to maintain sustainable tourism and protect a Wonder of the world.

Restrictions on plastic waste and community development

Indochina Sails and Indochine Cruise recruits not only local people but also give chance for disadvantage people to work for the cruise. Every year, we held a great recruitment where disadvantage people are also welcomed to work. We hire and train them to work in such positon as: massage staff, cabin attendant... At Indochine Cruise, we use only eco-friendly materials for daily serving guests. Plastic materials are avoided in order to keep a green environment not only for the boats but also for the clean environment of the Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. Instead of plastic, we use environmentally friendly materials such as wooden straw, refilled-amennities,… Using the latest technology, water filtration technology is tested annually and is certified by the Pasteur Institute. Waste water is non-polluting to the environment and can be recycled. Indochine Cruise’s advanced eco-friendly wastewater treatment technology in Indochine Cruise ensures no pollution to the World Heritage Site Halong bay and Lan Ha Bay.
